Five Senses Friday VIII

Feeling:
Euphoric. I have "completed" my last real thesis chapter. As I described to a couple friends (who were repulsed) that post-orgasmic stupor has set over me now. Which would make sense, since thesis writing is just academic, self-congratulatory masturbation anyways, no?
Smelling:
I just took such a deep breath it gave me a little headache. I wish I had a heightened sense of smell. That said, all I can smell is the Aqua Di Gioia I slathered myself in this morning.
Hearing:
oh oh! 98 degrees! Yessssss! I recently had a neighbour come down at 10:30 to inform me to turn the sick 90s pop, that Claire and I had been belting along to, down. Well...he didn't phrase it that way. More of a "it's me from upstairs. Again..."
Tasting:
Just Got Mind-Laid High Fives for Everyone!
Pecans. I packed the healthiest and yet most satisfying snack for the library today; raspberries, blackberries (which were my childhood favourite berry, and now I remember why) and pecans. And some unremarkable watermelon, but let's focus on the amazing.
Seeing:
Myself leaving the library early. My mind-load is too blown to focus anymore. If I'd actually gotten laid, this would be when I throw out high-fives to everyone I know.

Five Senses Friday VII

Feeling:
annoyed. With myself for not getting more work done this week [read: any work done] and with my sandal for breaking when I was 5 minutes from campus, 20 minutes from home.
Smelling:
Books. That old book smell. During the summer the library loses that Axe, Vanilla Body Spray, Redbull aroma, mysteriously.
Hearing:
Near silence. Birds.
Tasting:
My own sandpaper tongue. I am still dehydrated from Wednesday night... [that would be a snake on my route to adulthood]
Seeing:
My new maxi skirt is already pilling. Sigh.

Off to do work - happy weekend, one and all.

Five Senses Friday VI

It has been ages since I've done one of these, so I thought it was time to get a little retro on you.
Feeling:
oddly peaceful. That's what yoga, coffee, cappuccino and a morning of effective, completed work does to you I guess
Smelling:
Cleaning products. In my future. I am going to spend my afternoon spring cleaning, and I couldn't be more excited.
Hearing:
Adele's new album. I have been listening to it on repeat. Adore "Rolling in the Deep." It works to ease me into waking at 6:00am and is remarkably well paced for a runner of my calibre to clop along to.
Tasting:
Listerine. My dad got me hooked when I was on vacation with them. It was washing away the only-ok coffee from Pain Dore - guess I will stick with La Vielle Europe for my cappuccinos
Seeing:
Sunshine, and my watermelon coloured manicured fingers. Are "spring" coloured nails cheesy? I'm thinking of swapping to a flesh tone (mannequin hands, as last month's Elle called them). Thoughts? I've just started to inexpertly embrace painted nails, so any guidance is appreciated.

Five Senses Friday V

Feeling:
Indulgent - eating Bernard Callebeaut chocolates and drinking Bailey's on the rocks by a real fire, with burning logs and everything.
Smelling:
Tortierre. My mum is making it for the first time and it smells delicious!
Hearing:
I wish I could say carols and the fireplace crackling, but alas, my deaf mother is watching Judge Judy. I'm singing PYT by MJ in my head at least...
Tasting:
creamy deliciousness
Old School Donkey Kong Christmas Tree. Lovely.
Seeing:
an evening of Donkey Kong in my future. My brother has hooked up our Super Nintendo, and we have been Donkey-and-Diddying it up all afternoon.

Merry Christmas Everyone

Five Senses Friday IV

Feeling:
Content. I'm the best TA ever. Two days in a row I have had students walk out of their way to keep chatting with me. I love those babies.
Smelling:
The lingering perfume of my now binned lillies. I will have to buy fresh flowers soon - they are too lovely.
Hearing:

Boots of Spanish Leather by Bob Dylan. This was a song I never ever thought I could ever forget about, yet I somehow did. I just found it again, and it is so beautiful and reminds me so much of myself that I almost cry whenever I hear it.

Tasting:
The bitterness of my cat's scorn. She just slapped me.
Seeing:
The McGill Men's rugby finals in 2 hours. In the rain. I can't wait.

Five Senses Friday IIIf

Feeling:
Jittery. A lot of coffee - an awesome class - a wildly productive morning - a trip to Toronto in 4 hours to party with my bestie and his boyfriend!
Smelling:
My apartment, legitimately clean, but still with that wet grass/mud smell that accompanies the rugby season.
Hearing:
Oh God, "Only the Good Die Young" as performed by Mark Salling on Glee. I know, it's super embarrassing. Embarrassing raised to the nth degree given the absoluteness of my obsession. I think I have found the Good.
Tasting:
Coffee. And nothing else. My diet is starting today.
Seeing:
a potential quarrel with VIA Rail employees over what exactly qualifies as a carry on. Only sadists would enforce a "one carry-on" policy.

5 Senses Friday No. II

Feeling:
Very hungover, and disappointed with the world today. Law & Order was cancelled, my rugby girls played without me at Mt A tonight, Rich Cronin is gone, and Heather Blom is not in my bed watching Twilight with me.
Smelling:
That starchy smell of pasta cooking.
Hearing:
"The Girl on T.V." in tribute to the lost Lyte Funky One
Tasting:
Bile. It has not been a fun day.
Seeing:
a very busy day tomorrow after this squandered, bed ridden one
R.I.P. Rich.

5 Senses Friday No. I

I have taken this ingenious idea from my lovely friend Aly (who had, in turn, taken the idea from the blog abby try again)
time to find myself some alignment. Yoga soon.

Feeling:
Anxious. About to meet with my thesis supervisor for the first time, need to unpack, need to pick up boxes from the bus station, need to... breathe.
Smelling:
my own clean hair.  Sunflowers.
Hearing:
"Crush" by the band Live. I had heard it once on a coast to coast music show on Much Music when I was about 14, and rediscovered it while I roadtripped with my mum up from California: I had burned a cd for her with it on it. It, and Enrique Iglesias.
Tasting:
nothing. I burned my tongue on hot coffee. I. will. never. learn.
Seeing:
the most obnoxiously cluttered apartment
